OK friends....this week's theme is, "Surprised! Surprising! or Surprise!"

Like I was surprised, when my high school buddies bought me a dirt bike, right after I got out of the service.

If I only took a pic of the screw I found in cylinder 3 on my bike back in the early 2000s. It somehow lived in there for several thousand miles before getting stuck under an intake valve.

          Surprising indeed.

Surprised? Well one of the most surprising things to ever happen to me in my motorcycle life happened in May 2017.
When I rode my Cooley from my home in Victoria BC with 4 of my buddies to Monterey Calf to attend The Quail Motorcycle Gathering
I sent pics of my bikes months before and was approved to be in the "Gathering".
The editor of Cycle World Magazine, Mark Hoyer chose my bike as Cycle World's "Best of Tour". Mark said he chose my bike because I rode it that far, including the first day of 500 miles in crazy rain and fog. Most bikes were trailered there. I thought my buddies were pulling my leg. Lol
What a day! I got pics with Kenny Roberts with me and my bike and I went on stage right behind a Britten.

Bob - I think you and I are the only ones who believe motorcycles should be parked in the living room.

Trevor - Wouldn't mind seeing a pic of that Britten!

Sometimes surprises are pleasant, sometimes annoying.
Like being surprised, and then annoyed, by what found on work bench after forks reassembled and installed on bike.

(yah, I know have used this pic before, but is all I got.)

One might say that I was a bit surprised when we pulled this out of my tire, especially after riding about 70 miles on it like that.

I am surprised we only have four entries, with one day left.

Theme too tough? Or just a busy week for everyone?

Surprised last week when I found this little guy on my garage floor 7 months after removing this engine from my bike.

I've been pretty busy in the shop and wasn't sure what would really fit. However, how about the surprise you feel when you go to sit on the bike after it sat through the winter and one end pops up on you? After removing the seat you find one of the supports looks like this:
