Here's a replica of the main entrance to Los Alamos during the Manhattan project. Looks like the real deal, but it's a rest stop with bathrooms on the side of the building.

We had bad storms come through last week. It knocked the power out at work. They sent us home early. I wasn't complaining though...

Yep, I was.
Big storm (not so strong here, but intensified further inland) Thursday evening Grand Rapids area. 50-60-70 mph winds and some 80-90. All safe with my family (some others cant say that).
Tornado a couple miles from daughters house, main storm heading in thier direction, but tornado tracked in different direction.
I went there SatAM with generator. We saw lots of big trees down, partialy cut just enough for traffic on main roads. Near thier house, down trees cut for only one lane.
After got generator in operation, They got refridge back in operation, and some lights, and gas stove, and limited water. So are camping out. And PapaMimi took kids away for the rest of that day to give daughter a break after all that.
THey were expecting power back that Sat evening, but didnt happen. But online Outage map showed more and more subsections to their outage area (I suspect that means more problems identified in that area)
THier outage area seems to be one of the last remaining large outage areas. Expected return time is now 11pm tonight (MOnday), but such 4 previous stated Return Times have come and past, with only more subsections shown to their outage area.

So, yah, a couple times Saturday I thought to check, but could not connect., and then I forgot about it. ANd I thought that was little need to check since my pic is probably the quickest snapshot that I have ever entered. (Although I did wait a little bit to see if could catch a student "back to school".)

Had I known the results, I probably would have passed anyway.

Ride today, saw this that have seen before, thought would fit category somewhat...


Guy came while I was there, and we got chatting.
Sub was built by someone as a hobby endevour, and was actaully used for a while.

THe dive shop is operated by a local/regional divers club, and the guy was one of the volunteer's. Biggest service they provide is filling the divers air bottles.
He didnt know much about the sub, but said one of the other guy does.

Not at all related to the picture of the sub, but the guy said had been difficult to keep the shop in operation, but in last couple years they started offering service of filling paint-ballers air tanks... and air-soft-gun tanks and that has kept the shop in business.
