That was kinda fun searching for the bike. Was not seeing it in all the general places I thought to look,
Was about to give up, but then did find it, mostly I noticed the mirror and front end.
Does make me wonder where that is, and how it is you got picture of your bike from way across there....? Must be some story.

Just a short walk along the beach, and into the rocky cove part, with a movie-style pirate / smuggler's cave underneath it.
The massive concrete structure is nothing more than a stairway that's been added to and reinforced over the years. The sandy cliffs along there get eroded at a fearsome rate, and somebody on the local council thought it would be a good idea to spend millions protecting somebody's house above it.

Volcaneos West of Albuquerque. On the East side of this monument are a bunch of ancient drawings in the lava rock with some dating back to as long as 4,000 years ago.

I struggled finding a monument (well not really, but one that would look good on a picture and that was motorcycle accessible). I was going around looking at churches and statues and shipyards (had a brilliant idea to put the bike infront of the huge door for the dry dock, after some thinking I realized the door is facing the ocean...), and mountains. But nothing were really making an impact.

Going home I went past this wall and I remembered. This is a monument of sorts, and for all sorts of things. "Harsttak" is the name of my city in sami (the native peoples language), the city somewhat recently got signs with the sami-names for places on them. This has been a fairly controversial action, where some people are annoyed of the money spent and some are happy we are aknowleding their culture.

So in one way its a monument of progress. But if you read the texts scriblled on top, they are what Id describe as mildy racist slogans. Like: "If the sami people don't know norwegian, they should go to school", or "Why not in persian too? Then our new countrymen would understand where they are too."

And then someone threw paint over the racist messages.

I guess its a monument of hope, progress and free expressions? I find the livelyness, and dynamic nature of it to be quite compelling. And it represents so strong feelings.

I should have placed the bike all the way to the right though.

How do I vote? And when is submissions due by? And when do we vote?

Besides, it is good practice to leave space in front of a vehicle to give it room to "move."

If only I had 2-1 exhaust, I could have turned it around (but then it would be going backwards, unless for the british people).

                              Thank you.

Wonderfull that its until thursday, because then I couldn't have gone to Troms? to find something (its 300km/ 4 hours each way). Thinking of going this weekend.

The closest thing that I can think of being monumental was the first tour that I took on SuzieQ. It was an 8 day tour with 6 days being on the road riding totaling 2008 miles. I bought the bike in Jan of 2002 and the tour was mid July that year. The third night we camped at Stanley lake Idaho, which is where this picture is taken. The next day was the monumental ride of 134 miles in 74 minuets passing only 6 cars to the town of Salmon Idaho.
