Want to see what Amazon knows about YOU?

Everything, literally everything, you have ever done on any Amazon-owned/controlled websites or devices, including Alexa, has been recorded.

Some parts of the data may be changeable, but you cannot delete it from the record.

This link gets you to the page where you can see much/most of what has been recorded about YOU.
Once open, click on the highlighted text portion and proceed....

This means nothing. The sad bit is sorry gits thinking their inconsequential selves have or will be harmed.
Fear of big data is childish. They know less than the government does and have 0 power over you.

The information is used to measure trends and to better deliver service on the basis of past behaviours.

GM knows where every car they've made with onstar goes and all the parameters of performance related to it. An astoundingly useful tool for maintaining their fleet and for planning for changes to offerings.

Trying to be facetious are you? The tracking on amazon is no different than a waitress memorizing your order to facilitate you blithely saying "the usual" and to offer you items that may be similar that you might like. Its good for business and the customer.
Especially good for trends and for orders and supply chain.
Sears and Eatons and other catalogue retailers did this to the degree they could.

Yes, that is the theme endlessly repeated by all who collect data and, no doubt, there is some truth in it.

It was a bit of a surprise that, whether anyone is speaking directly to it or not, every word that is "heard" by Alexa is recorded and everything seen or heard on the RING security system is also recorded.

Every company on the net collects data and they have been for a long time. That isn't going to change.

My main beef with personalization is recommendations to view or watch the same information, it drives people down rabbit holes of their own group think. I hear the same talking points ad nauseum from friends that consume FB and probably Google news feed with themselves signed in. I make an effort to never allow personalization if possible, but it's getting harder.

I led personalization projects for inflight entertainment, and felt this internal conflict. We had to abide by international laws for the access to, and deletion of data, very strict especially EU.

As for prying, meh. I worked in a 3 letter agency, they don't give a rat's about you.

The rabbit hole of the echo chamber. Apple music does a good job and its spheres do open up the world by showing you artists yooud never heard of that you actually like in spite of yourself.

Netflix on the other hand is a den of rat batards. There search function never gives you what you want but gives crap that some moron tagging titles has deemed is of a similar genre or vein. I keep it cause my mother uses my account otherwise id get ris of it its crap. ANd what they produce is crap.

I have also noticed Google has been going to hell in the past few years with the offering of alterations on your search.
Type in almost anything and its gives ready made responses to idiotic barely literate questions.

Are GS Suzukis good? or anything good. WTF asks a simpleton question like that.
I think its partly because a lot of internet users who understand the power of boolean operators and machine searchable text are disappearing.
Its 30 plus years and back then you had to know. Know google feed you crap though they still have the advanced search options.

on the plus side Joni joined Neil in leaving spotify maybe a dozen more artists could hit em hard. Lose the beatles rogan is gone...............maybe.............

I was project manager for personalization and recommendation engines for inflight entertainment systems and we made sure to throw some random in there. It was always conflicting to me. Covid took care of that conundrum

When my son was about 8 or so, we shared a Netflix account, and our recommendations were basically a mix of Nazi documentaries and Spongebob.

                            You are a trip, man!

I do trip out on how my internet searches are tracked but it has been going on for a long time. As for Alexa, we don't always have her plugged in...only use her for music and trivia games. She probably has a back-up/internal battery that still tracks even when unplugged. We aren't talking about secret squirrel stuff in our home so it's not something we think is intrusive enough to be paranoid.

People do bring up good points about keeping track of our ordering...like what waitresses do...lol!

Seriously though, life is too short for this.
I am enjoying the fourth quarter of my life immensely, (and hoping for some overtime), and I just can't waste time on certain things.
I try to keep my worries as few as possible, as important as possible, and most importantly, something I can possibly change.
