Got it all back together and set the timing per the manuals directions.

Had just one little drip from the stator cover..so Im will remove that and smear a little 3Bond on it to seal it again. I was too hot and tired to "F" with it anymore today. Anyway, heres the pics. One got cut off because I think the shutter stuck on the camera. In the next post I will post the video.

Video..sound sucky due to the wind...sorry.

Kinda windy and poor sound quality...I guess the 25+ MPH winds we are having did no justice..but you get the point.

Okay Chuck, you told us about the leaking stator cover, but what's up with the dirty right rear shock?? We can't have that can we?

She came out nice. With only $800 into it, you need not worry about being upside down if you ever do sell it.

I was only jerking your chain...

I know you. Until it's all spot on you'll never rest.

Oh and by the way, if you recall I saw your Cooley when you first got it. You under estimate how well she looks for being 33 years old.

                        DALE..Your a very generous man..thanks.

The TXs shocks are actually real nice still, just that the springs are chipped and rusted. I cleaned them the best I could for now. I ordered a new NOS stator gasket off the Bay. In the mean time, I am gonna clean the old gasket with brake cleaner and apply a thin smear of 3 Bond to each side and reuse it. Have the one I mordered as a spare on the shelf.

I most likely over tightened it and got a leak. But tioght to me is locked inn place to most other folks!! I really need to get me an inch torque wrench.

So what do you think of the before pics from when I started the thread as compared to how she looks now? I cant believe its the same engine!!

Nice work Chuck! She looks vastly better. I only remember 3 of them from the 70's and they were all the gold color. Never seen any other color.
