Found a great deal on an RK X-ring chain off ebay. Unfortunately, the seller stuck the thing in a paper thin USPS Flat Rate envelop and the thing got loose during shipment. Empty box showed up at the house. Needless to say I've asked for a refund, but it's going to be hard to find another for the price I paid ($51 shipped).

Will the seller send another one this time wrapped in several of those envelopes?
I have had many Ebay sellers do just that with good results. (parts that made it to me.)

              Hi Brian,

I've bought lots of stuff off ebay and while you do run into surprises from time to time, overall I'm a fan. Most people pony up when something goes wrong, or ebay forces them to. That chain was a smoking deal, which is going to be hard to replicate. I don't think the seller is a retailer so doubt he has another laying around. We'll see what he says...

I noticed that Z1 has a selection of X-ring chains recently added to their web site. I don't know much about chains, so I don't know if any of them will fit or if they're any good, but the prices seem reasonable: http://www.z1enterprises.com/ListIte...oup=7+JT+Chain

I found a similar deal on an RK chain on amazon for the RF900. The seller was amazon warehouse deals. It was a 530XSOZ1-110 link for $61. Give them a try.

My target was RK 530XSOZ1, EK 530SRX, and D.I.D 530VX. These are the mid priced value chain offerings from these companies. Pulled the trigger on the best price. Second time around found a D.I.D for $55 shipped, less the joining link, which are available for $7.55. Not as cheap as the RK, but good enough. Just hope it doesn't turn out to be the gold version.

Did some painting today. Primed a bunch of parts. Using Transtar Epoxy primer. Seems like pretty good stuff. It's a little chilly to paint but did it anyway. Have a run or two but nothing serious. Might shoot the black tomorrow if I get motivated.

                          Stay tuned for photos...

Thanks for the compliment Joe. Wish it were true, but not really.

It was a beautiful day, but a little cold for painting. Didn't let it stop me though. Have a run here or there but not too bad. Brought the parts inside for the night and tucked them in next to the wall heater...

Ah, so there is a useful purpose for those skinny pointy tables with the flimsy legs. Good to know.
