    I have done everything you say and more ! a lot, lot more !
    Even though many sites say it is on sale it is not !!
    If I could be bothered I could write a thesis on why it is so.

    I was making contact with a fellow enthusiast on these bikes where parts are very hard to find !
    It remains the fact that when this chap logs back in he will know that I too am struggling with these bikes.
    He will want to chat to me ! be assured.

      It's OK with me to ask questions Ed.The center stand wasn't on my bike either Jules so I have no idea what exactly it looks like.I am fortunate that a guy I know though the BC classics site has an 82 he's modding so it looks like the much needed forks will be from himSome other stuff to.BTW the 83-5(?)KZ750's have a are the same basic bike so that MAY widen your search.For me the forks are enough different to be wanting a set of 82's.A lot of other stuff going on here has the GPz on the back burner right now.So we could share information and stuff on bikes other than our beloved GS's is why I asked for an "Other Bikes" forum.

        NOT cheap, but if you need it you need it!

        The KZ750L model bikes are an extension of the R1 as you guys know. Here is a link to an L model center stand for sale...http://www.ebay.com/itm/300630647286...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

        Should be a direct bolt on to the R1. Looks like Kawasaki deleted some gussets around the crossbar, but added reinforcement up near where the stand mounts to the frame. If you just need a functional stand the L model part should work. If you are doing a "correct" restoration though you are going to have to wait for an R1 stand to pop up, or maybe start messaging guys that are parting out bikes.

          Wow SVSooke, so how come this project has died out?
          Myself, I was looking for a GPz forum, but seems they're treated as a bastard cousin of the KZ.

              I'm working on a 1984 KZ700A1, which is the destroked later version of your 750R1. Other than a few minor cosmetic things, they're pretty much the same bikes. I encourage you to try to get back to her when you can. I only rode this bike a few miles before starting the teardown, but it impressed me with its lightweight and nimbleness. Felt a lot more like a 550/650 class bike.

                One small move closer,remember the "improved "airbox

                Well I popped for this http://www.ebay.ca/itm/151975630159?...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT after trying to get one in the wanted forum on KZR.If you see the shipping as $15 and think that's not bad I payed $28 USD for shipping.That's $41CADI could be worse,apparently there was just a cap on eBay for $50USD

                  Well that airbox gave up enough parts to be well worth the cost.The "new" cap is a bit worn but you'll never see it much

                  Four nice soft boots,the breather hose and it's grommet.Saves me the $50USD+shipping I'd need for those.

                  Cleaned up nice!A new UNI filter is ordered to.

                    I agree! Love my KZ750 and like riding it more than my GS1000.

                    If you want a 750 crank for your 700 let me know. I've got engine parts that are going to go to the metal mongers otherwise.

                      I agree the GPz would be more nimble than the GS1000 but my 85 GS750 with it's 16 inch front and the same weight as the GPz750 is even more so.

                        Yeah, Suzuki and Kawasaki had a battle in the mid 1980s until Suzuki pulled away with the GSXR.
                        When they put a 16" wheel on the GSX, that worked for a couple years.

                          Yeah but I had to put in my perspective.I love the smaller lighter bikes but my 6'2" frame fits the 750^ better.On to project news,got the UNI filter

                          Looks better than the OEM IMHO.Looks like I may have a stanchion tube and shocks coming from a KZR member for the price of shippingThat will help us out a LOT!Been worried the stanchion was going to be BIG $$.

                            With the stanchion and a set of OEM shocks on the way it was time to get the lowers cleaned up and painted.Got a used swing arm pivot bolt coning from Germany for a very good price and some bearings from China as well.Just need a swing arm sleeve now and my suspension should be good enough for a roller status.Planning to degrease the frame and swinger in preparation for it's date with the media blaster and a coat of appliance "epoxy".

                              While I'm waiting for the stanchion tube,shocks and the swing arm pivot bolt I got off eBay from Germany I decided the handle bar pods could use some attention.

                              Left side is the worst,looks like it was cleared with something that's now flaking offThe horn "button"(it's more of a lever thing) seemed loose but the switch it's self seems OK.Going to take it apart to be sure.

                              A lot of whatever was on the left pod came off using my buffer but it still looks badI'm hoping Back To Black may help?The right side looks great with just a clean but the OFF<l RUN l>OFF lettering has gone.Thought getting some white dry transfer lettering would be easy,from an eBay search not so much.Any suggestions on how to refresh the lettering?Kawasaki sure does switch gear different than Suzuki,a lot of the bits are similar but they are used in different ways.The unified starter/kill switch is cool,so is the way the throttle cable turns 90 degrees inside the pod.Makes the outside one on my 85 750EF look primitive.
