      I hear ya Larry. Next big item after the engine is 100% done is the tires. Everything else has been done and is ready for reassembly. Myself and Frank had done the frame and all the polishing and Jap Bike Randy relaced and trued the rims. Here the original thread from before I bought the bike from Frank.

        Got the engine covers painted up this AM. Was shooting for that 'theres color but ib doesnt look new look" I think its pretty good. Guy told me the engine paint would be here today at 10 so I went to get it and they forgot to order it in. Tomorrow for sure.

          Got some color on the engine today. Used my old favorite VHT SP-127 ( UNIVERSAL ALUMINUM ) on the cases and jugs. And since the factory made the valve covers chromed I went with the Duplicolor chrome just to make it somewhat shiney and differentiate the two areas .

          Little Acetone to reclean the paint off the clutch cover and install the new kick starter shaft seal is next in line. Gonna order the rubber cam end plugs Monday.

              Frank...Its more of a real shiney silver than mirror "chrome" but it gives that contrast and visual effect from a few feet away. Someday when i can afford it, I will just have it real chromed though.

                  Gently got it to the bench and took the port plugs and paper towels out of the intakes and exhausts. Set the cams and rolled it over with a ratchet many times and didnt tick and valves so I must have cam timing correct. Then put on the new carb intake manifolds. The intakes dont have orings, so i got some rubber impregnated gasket material and cut gaskets for between the head and the intakes..just to add to the seals. Now to get rubber on the rims so i can finish the bike.

                    Got the generator mounted in the cover, installed a new kick starter shaft seal, mounted some old junk tires on the rims just so it can be a rolling chassis soon, and got all the goodies from storage. Everything is laid out and the games begin tomorrow.

                      Got the chassis assembled today. Might drop the engine in tomorrow and start with all the other bits and pieces.

                        Today was shining fenders, cleaning nuts and bolts, cleaning and painting the front caliper, cleaning and polishing the rear tail light assembly..general cleaning etc etc. Did get the front half of the rear fender mounted on the frame though.

                            Headlight bucket painted, engine back in the frame, and more hardware cleaning today. Gotta polish up the turn signals and stems best they can be, but they are still gonna be pitted. object is to at least mount them ( they hold the bucket to the ears ) so i can get all the harness connections done and be able to test switches etc etc. Turn signals will be replaced somewhere down the road though. Will snap some pics in the next day or so when i get something substantial done.

                                Been hard at it yesterday and today. Got turn signals, battery box and electrical panel, all the electrical components, front fender, and exhaust bolted on. Gonna be some down time now between parts ordering and parts arrivals. But its about as far as I can go ( other than a few things like install the wire harness ) until I have some parts in hand.

                                Whats left to do::

                                Polish the mufflers again.
                                Order tach and speedo cables.
                                Order caliper piston seal.
                                Install main wire harness and hook things up.
                                Order new airbox to carb boots from Z1.
                                Get new chain and sprockets ordered.
                                New tires.
                                Bleed brakes.
                                Install clutch cable and adjust.
                                Freshen the carbs. They were rebuilt and never filled with gas but they still will be refreshed accordingly.
                                Get new fuel line.
                                Install new wires on the coils.

                                And lastly will be the repainting of the body work.
