      Little soft wire wheeling on the bench grinder, some 000 grade steel wool and hemostats, and the metal bristled tooth brushes along with some carb spray to clean the exteriors after they come out of the dip. Wire wheel as much as you can get shined up and detail with the steel wool and tooth brushes in the hard to get places.

        What kind of wire wheel do you have on your bench grinder? I have one that states it is brass, but it eats aluminum!

          Think its some sort of steel. I just look for the finest wires and some will actually say soft on the package. What do you mean by eats??? Actaully gouges it or makes some scratch marks??? I get a little marking but the rub down with steel wool takes care of all that.

          I have thought about getting some soda and trying it on some old carb bodies in the blasting cabinet to see what that does.

            My wheel gouges aluminum. Maybe the wires are too course. I will have to see if I can find something that is finer.

              Fine ones will flex and still clean...guess thats the key. Finest and softest possible and try it on an old case cover or something. Guess Dremel wheels would too.

                  My thought is why do all the other stuff and shove a set of crappy looking carbs in along a nice newly painted frame and engine. kinda would be an eyesore.

                    Well Xmas break is over and the last orings I needs showed up so I got the carbs on and fired it up. All is well and tomorrow i will need to do the carb sync and put the body work back on and call it done until i get the tank and side cover stickers. But its a runner and will be ridable tomorrow afternoon...just in time for the ice and winter storm warnings we have for tomorrow afternoon..NICE!!!

                    I will be posting a video of her later tomorrow afternoon as well.

                      Got the carbs sync done and checked the timing this morning. Put gas in the tank and the petcock went drip.....drip....drip. So took the face off and the round gasket with the 4 holes in it is bad. Its always that one last thing that prolongs that first ride!!!!!!!

                          Got the petcock gasket this morning and it doesnt leak so heres a short video. I also did a little burn out by the garage door. Rode down the block and got it thru all 6 gears and that was about all I wanted to do in this weather. Other than the side cover and tank emblems its a done deal.




                          Click on the below image, or the direct link, to see the video...Bike was dying at the end because i forgot to turn the gas on. But i assure you it will sit and idle all day at 1,000 RPMs..

                              Thank you. I rode it today a short ways and had forgotten just how small it felt. By that i mean its kinda a compact sitting and shifting posture. It was still a great ride and the burn out was exhilerating too.
