That color reminds me of your Yamaha project. Is that what inspired you for this color?Decided to put off some chores for the more important things in life........anything motorcycle related is more important. HA HA. Shot some orange anyway. The left side cover is the original and the bottom is the color my guy matched up. It ( viewing it in person ) is absolutely a perfect match.

The bikes original color Bill. I actually reshot things as it didnt quite have that orangeish yellowness like a early morning orange sunrise has. That, in fact, was what Japan based the color on..its called Flake Sunrise Orange. Has a much deeper orangeish tone now. Got some time for MY projects so I wet sanded tank and applied the decals. Directions say wait 24 HRS so tomorrow after work we shall see some final top coats of clear applied. Tank emblems got some stripper to remove the old yellowed enamel. I will swing by Hobby Lobby on the way home and get some Testors white model paint and a small brush.

If you get the liquid ratio, pressure, and speed right while spraying you should "rarely" ever have to sand the top coat. Least thats what I have found to be the case. I shot two coats of clear on the side covers and they came out perfect..like the surface of a mirror. Didnt need to retouch anything.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

What I sanded in the pics is to scuff the first clear coat to do 2 things. First it makes a surface for the decal adhesive to get a good hold and second it opens the surface for my final clear coats. I will shoot 1 coat and let it gas out about 15 minutes and then shoot the second coat just a bit heavier and then stop and back away.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Three coats of clear and its like glass...and i walk away...before something happens and I screw it up!!!! The shot with my reflection is from about 6 ft away.
