Show off. I remember how you blundered into that bike. Did you ever get a fairing for it?Current Rides: 1980 Suzuki GS1000ET, 2006 H-D Fatboy, 2021 BMW K1600BComment

No, I sold it to a doctor in Cinci who actually drove down to look at an 83 GS750E I had for sale. Talked me out of both of them for $8000. I was asking $1500 for the GS but would have taken a grand, so I made out like a bandit. That scratch on the fairing was the only obvious issue on that bike, but the new owner didn't care. A buddy of mine in Texas just bought a red one in pretty darn nice shape with 15K miles for $5500. The prices on the 1100F's are only going up!!!!

Unlike these GS bikes. I can get more for my hi-miler 1100F than for my mid-miler GS by a significant amount.Current Rides: 1980 Suzuki GS1000ET, 2006 H-D Fatboy, 2021 BMW K1600BComment

Wow, I guess I missed a bunch of your posts. One question was how it ran. It's okay, but needs further tinkering. That can all be done now that I got the bodywork painted and back on. The bike was free, so I don't think I'll ever be upside down in it. Here are a couple of pics. I need new tires and brake lines, to begin with.
Here is the before picture again, and what it looks like now. All the bodywork, except for the tank is original to the bike. My buddy that gave it to me certainly isn't an idiot, but he acts like one sometimes.

When consulting the magic 8 ball for advice, one must first ask it "will your answers be accurate?"

No, regular American 900F stripe kit. They were either silver, with these stripes, or black (with red kit), but I decided to go with blue instead of silver. Actually, I was going to go pearl white with a 1981 red kit, but that changed.
Thanks for the compliments!Comment

For the CB900f I am about to begin restoring/resto-modding, I think I will go with pearl white paint with custom factory look decals in red and blue."Thought he, it is a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."

I saw this over on the CB1100F site, nice looking bike and I like what you done with it. The G looks great, also. I just picked an '81 900f, working on getting it back together over the winter.Wow, I guess I missed a bunch of your posts. One question was how it ran. It's okay, but needs further tinkering. To me, there's a place for custom paint, & for original paint. If I pull up at bike night & see Tornado's 1100 F & Deuce's 900 F sitting on the far side of the parking lot, I'd say "Oh Shoot" look, there's an ole "83" 1100 F sitting over there beside that blue bike with the blue stripes. Both bikes look great, but I know what the 1100 is by the paint, when I get close enough to read the reading on the side of the 900, I'd say that says 900 F, but they never came in that color. Don't get me wrong, congrats to both of you, both bikes look great !!!1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. ZL600 Eliminator, 1999 Bandit 1200S, 2005 Bandit 1200S, 2000 Kaw. Since any bike can be restored to original paint colors so long as the bodywork is intact, I say go for the look you want. I was thinking of putting the '82 900f back to silver, as it was stock, but I know I will get a kick out of making it more unique for riding."Thought he, it is a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."

Exactly my point, Custom is having exactly what you want, that's what you should have. Original is for having exactly the way it was originally. Either way is perfectly correct.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. ZL600 Eliminator, 1999 Bandit 1200S, 2005 Bandit 1200S, 2000 Kaw. ZRX 1100Comment
