      Thanks gents.
I've been riding bicycles since three years old. Never a helmet, even during my teen - early 20s during my time spent doing BMX freestyle. My parents were pretty lax, but as soon as a motor became involved helmet rules then were strictly enforced. Perhaps thats why I gear up on the cycle and not on the bicycle. I suppose a combination of luck and skill saved me. As we were riding home I did think about how anyone would want to risk riding a motorcycle without a helmet if a head impact from falling off of a bicycle hurt that much.
I also will admit that my ooccasional motor scooter joyrides around the block have been helmetless. Time to reconsider that as well.

Back at work today, it should be interesting.... My head is fine, ribs are sore.

I don't wear a bicycle helmet, either. They look ineffective and cheap to me.

That is a very unwise perspective.

Both bicycle and motorcycle helmets use a lot of the same technology to help protect the user. Polystyrene material is used to absorb impact energy for example. I had a bike wreck last year and didn't even notice at first but there were scuffs on the helmet and later I noticed the liner was cracked. Needless to say I'm glad the scuffs and damage occurred to the helmet instead of my head.

              Any update Glen??

Two grandkids stayed with us for day and a half. The parents dropped them off with a porch full of bikes and scooters and roller blades. Eight year old grandson was upset that his bike helmet wasnt there and that meant he could not do anything.
He was happy that I found my bike helmet for him, well, after I washed off the thick dust and spider webbs.

They are far from ineffective and decent ones are far from cheap. I bought a new MTB one this year and it was well over $100.00 and you can spend a lot more than that.

Glen. A theory I use is that the object you hit your head on doesn't know or care what you just fell off. Heal up well buddy.

                    Thanks Sandy.
I'm fine for the most part. Slight soreness below my shoulder, but I've dealt with back pain far worse, so no worries. A couple of Motrin has been helpful.
I took Wednesday off, back to work Thursday. Other then being mindful of my shoulder, its been business as usual.
The only real pain was working on my failed cooling system at home on Friday night. I lost my balance in the attic and leaned back on a vertical roof supprt beam to steady myself - right on my sore spot. That took my breath away for a brief time.

My son and me rode to the in-laws for family dinner. About 5 miles directly. I added a bit due to avoiding a few bicycle un friendly roads. He has been asking to do this for a while and plans / weather allowed it today.
He was so excited, similar to what I would be at the prospect of a day on the cycle. We have ridden much further in the past, but something about riding to Grandmas just made him happy.

Bikes came home on the car rack.

My nephew is RIDING! My sister took him to an REI class which went a long way toward getting him comfortable. Then, because the pedals were off for the start of that class, the size of the pedals came up, and smaller ones were spec'd. Once that was done, he was a rider and has been riding pretty much every day since.

I bought a set of 29er wheels with fat bike hubs to diversify my riding options.

Saddles are also, one of the few pieces of equipment, the pro riders do not accept a sponsorship on, if they really does not suits them.
