      Nice find on your R5C, looking forward to following your progress. When its a runner you might upgrade the coils because R5s foul plugs pretty quickly. I had a purple & white R5A and the oil pump was running way rich.

        Probably needs a center seal, after sitting so long. That makes them act lean.

          I'm real rusty on my Yamaha knowledge but aren't the center seals on the Yamaha 2 stroke twins a metal (of some sort) labyrinth seal. Only the outers are rubber and easily replaced. So hopefully no need to split the cases and take the crank apart like on the Suzuki 2 stroke twins. Good be wrong though.

            Probably the first order of business is to source a factory Service manual

                    In storage unit awaiting its rotation into the shop. Runs but is gonna get a full on Chuck special at some point.

                      Unrestored but good looking. Its in Anaheim, CA Scott Clough engine. DG heads and pipes. Lots of porting work on the transfer ports, not much on the inlet and exhaust timing. Banshee reed blocks. '76. Looks good runs great. I gave away the stock pipes. May have the airbox and a few things. It is in Anaheim, CA. It is in my albums, I think. I never ride it. If you race a s stroke, you probably race against his bikes. No better two stroke tuner around.

                        Looking at the Yamaha you’ve picked up makes me bewildered,how can someone have 322 miles on a fine machine and then let it deteriorate to such poor cosmetic condition? I’m astounded at how many I find that have maybe 20,000 miles and are abandoned to the back of someone’s property.Barn finds being what they are I’m familiar with the general round of excuses given by owners. I’m curious what the story is on this one.
