Another Corona Virus project! aka: Let's smoke 'em out!

Got bored, working at home, staying at home, all the time at home. So I found this little jewel for a few dollars and decided why not? It's a 1983 Yamaha DT100K enduro bike. Most of the pieces are there and its titled and registered until October. Currently de-rusting the tank and cleaning it up. Hope to have it running soon and then decide what to do with it. At least I can use it for mosquito control if summer ever gets here! My garage is full already, this quarantine better be over soon!

Got some work done today on the little smoker! Straightened the brake pedal, replaced a rear footrest, cleaned up some wiring, finished de-rusting the tank and put the cheap Mikuni copy of a carb back on. The good news, it started! The bad news, it does not run well. This Chinese carb is a piece of crap! So I ordered a used Mikuni carb off of fleabay and a bunch of other stuff from Bike Bandit. Got a battery (6V), seat cover, and some rubber bits headed this way. Since the seat cover is scheduled to be here on Wednesday, I bead blasted and painted the seat pan.

Still working on the coronavirus project. Got quite a bit done so far!


Still have to get the correct front fender, a left side cover and mount the rear turn signals. Oh yeah, still waiting on the title from the state! Then its off to smoke up the neighborhood!

Got the rear turn signals mounted, carb adjusted and the correct front fender painted and installed. Thanks to Bike Bandit, I had to fab a front wheel spacer. But I did ride it for about a mile around the neighborhood!



Now to start working on the rust!

Found the little smoker a new home this morning! Posted it on Facebook Marketplace and the first young kid that looked at it handed me $750 cash! Now I have a little more space in the garage.



Now if someone just buys the GS550.........I might be in the market for a 1100E or 1150E!

I have a 77 Wing in the garage awaiting my overdue attention. I had the carbs rebuilt and put on new timing belts. I need to pull ALL the wiring & toss it, and start over with a minimal setup. The wiring on these things is scary to say the least.It starts immediately, cold blooded, sounds solid. I think it's in the 50K mile area. I'll get it usable but I refuse to dump a ton of money in it. The carbs were 380 bucks.

I just got two GL1100 Goldwings for free, along with an articulating sidecar frame that seems quite sturdy. Both bikes have mounts for it. The blue '81 was being worked on, with a new radiator, timing belt, driveshaft boot and carb kits (carbs are disassembled), and new brake pads. Engine was taken from a bike with 50K miles after the first went 300K. The shocks hold air and forks aren't pitted, but it needs a full go-through. I need to get an ultrasonic cleaner. The brown '80 is a parts bike, has progressive rear shocks and a better instrument panel, and a few other bits I can use.

I've been scoring some pretty sweet deals lately on Craigslist and haven't gotten murdered yet.

That's a nice score right there! Heck that side car frame alone just might cover your cost for parts to "Go through" the better of the two you already have.

Want to help me quell todays headache? My carbs are cleaned and now it's time to get the linkages all hoked back up. Having a hard time finding pictures, instructions etc. Any leads on that? Have a copy of the factory service manual, the parts fische and a hard copy of the Clymer manual here and none of them are all that concise.
