One of the last pieces

I have been working on a fellows suit of armor for a while now. I just finished the left leg with this, the right leg to go and am finished.

Rich I will do that when it is done. When complete I will have built and formed all but the skull of the helm and the breast and back, which I did modify.

I hope to give it a test run next weekend at a ren fair. I have all except helm.

would be intersting to see what process and methods you use to produce these. The curvature of some of those pieces get my attention.

I could be wrong, but having seen a jousting tournament at a Renn. Fair, I believe the "flower", or rondel is to provide extra protection in a vulnerable spot. Doesn't help much if the opponent is off his mark, though. found this:

Yes it is functional and weighs 63 lbs. not counting the helm. The weight of the legs is carried all the way to the ground by the calf pieces called grieves, so that is not a burden on the wearer.

Nothing special, a 20 lb anvil, a half dozen hammers, 30 year old dishing stump and a Beverly shear some drills and shaped chisels. Everything that I used I can throw in the back of the truck. Used to demo at ren fairs, was lots of fun.
