There was a grey import craze for these about 35 years ago. Little rocket machines that suited leanly-built teenagers.
Not so much for portly old men, though.

A buddy bought one new this year. Thing is pretty crazy and will be crazier next year when he puts a pipe on it along with getting the euro flash done. Stock it is really stuffed up. With custom ECU flash on the stock bike rumours are a 20hp gain. .Euro flash and pipe should also be a significant change. Riding position isn't even that bad. Super cool bike.

Japan made all matter of crazy HOT 400's, back in the day. Both two stroke and four. VFR400, GSXR400, etc. Super cool bikes. As I understand it, there were licensing laws in Japan that restricted many riders to 400cc bikes, thus the desire for fast ones.

Riding position isn't that bad??? I can't say for sure, never been on one, but for 70 yr. old eyes it sure doesn't look too comfy.

It's also the cost of mandatory motorcycle insurance in Japan. There's a significant jump in cost of motorcycle ownership above 400cc.

It's all relative. LOL. Way more comfy than a 2008 GSXR1000 and near as comfy as a 1987 FZR1000. I guess when one spends a lot of time on bicycles that would be quite comfy.

I just got home from looking at the motorcycle. I don't know, maybe I'm to old for such a sporting riding position.
If I could find some 2 inch bar risers that would help with my riding position. We'll see.

Ah, man. The '87 FZR1000 was such a great bike. I also remember those little magic machines, having lusted for a short while after a CB-1. Ultimately, the lure of the RZ350 pulled me in that direction.

I removed the big extended license plate bracket in favor of the smaller tail tidy.
I'm going to be sad when I have to move it to the garage. 20250111_153529.jpg
