Cracking the throttle a bit is what I'd expect to work, and it does sometimes. Others - nothing, until after I close it all the way. I don't think wide open works either.
I've had a handful of backfires too since I've had it, (3 1/2 years, 15kmiles +) but that's been (exclusively?) at cold start. One a few months ago came like half a second after cranking - POW!!! I'm like, what is the source of ignition at that point? The exhaust isn't hot, etc.
Usually everything's good, and the bike runs really well, but the hot start thing is annoying. Happened to me a couple of times tonight.
I've had to figure out just what works - about 3/4 choke cold, with the idle speed left at about 1600 at the end of the last ride (that external idle speed adjuster on these Kawasakis is pretty handy). But then, the Suzukis didn't need it, so. Lol.
