New bike for the stable. Long story. Owned by a fellow UJM nut who has thirteen (soon to be twelve) old Japanese bikes in the garage.

Did a lot of horsetrading and negotiating, but in the end I got it for a bunch of parts I already had, and $500 cash.

1984 GPZ750, 16,000+ miles on it. And yes, that is a solid Stainless Steel Supertrapp exhaust on it.




He also has an '83 V45 Interceptor that is equally immaculate that was sorely tempting.....

It needs almost nothing. New tires, chain/sprockets, upgraded charging electrics, new battery, Dynojet Stage III kit installed to go with the K&N pods (interesting style, they are oval and one pod feeds two carb) and Supertrapp exhaust. It seems really well tuned. It starts up with minimal choke, and will happily idle off choke in less than 45 seconds. Plugs are good looking tannish gray too.

The only thing I think it needs is a new sidestand down indicator switch. I've already got one coming from ebay for $30.

I pick it up next Sunday. Oooh boy. Happy Father's Day to me!

He doesn't have the stock exhaust, unfortunately. That alone is worth $500 is it's in really good shape.

I have found here and there a few KZ750LTD exhausts in nice shape that will fit your bike. Problem is, they have the "trumpet" belling at the exhaust mouth, and they're shorter than the GPZ or E (or 750/700A) exhaust that came on the bike.

This is the bike (actually, a black '85 model) that I debated buying when I purchased my 700ES back in the day off the showroom floor. The dealer was a Kawasaki/Suzuki/Arctic Cat dealer, and had both the GPZ and the GS sitting side by side.

I went with the GS, no regrets, but I've always wanted a GPZ too.

There was a member here who had one ('83, I think) for sale locally last year, and I'd have bought it, but it was a cash only deal, and I couldn't talk the wife into $2k+ for it.

She was cool with a $500 outlay though.

Noticing a bit of a GPz thing going on here in "Other" bikes.Very cool deal ,much better than the V45 IMO.Had one and they are a PITA to work on.Wish my 82 had a Supertrapp but the V&H will have to do.

By the way, this thing has brand new (still have the porcupine quills on the tread) Dunlop GT501 tires on it.

Ya know, diiiiiiidn't you pick up a CB750F a while back? Or did you get rid of it? I love those bikes.
