Looking at buying a 1981 Honda CT110 "Postie"

I have found a 1981 Honda CT110 for sale locally, I've always had a soft spot for these bikes and thought it would be fun to have one to play around on.

Price seems fair and the bike appears to be in good shape with about 1,400 KM on it, going to look at it tonight.

Anyone else on here own one of these bikes, or had one in their past?

    Cheers,

    David

Used to own a CT90 way back in the day. It could almost reach 55mph if you waited long enough and the trail was level. The dual range transmission made it fun to take on trails.
The 110 would simply be a more fun version.

I had a couple ct90s, never had a 110 and longed for the BIG ONE hahaha. think of the power???but loved both of them.. one had a separate rear fuel tank/canister that looked like a canteen.. you filled it with gas then poured it into the main tank when needed.. should have kept that one also, among many others huh?

That one looks pretty nice as well, they have hardly changed after all those years, looks almost the same as the later models.

I went over to check it out, looked good and fired right up on the old gas which was 3-5 years old.
Only funky part was it looks like the gas tank may have been replaced or repainted at some point, and was not the original stock colour, tank was clean and free of rust though.
Has the original tires from 1980 and are hardly worn, 2 original keys, and everything else seems to be correct, so the mileage looks legit.
I gave the guy a deposit, and will pick it up later this week.

Good news, as I will be able to register it for the road without too much hassle as he found the original plate that came with the bike and it had been last registered in BC in 1992.
He had advertised it as no registration and out of Province bike, that would have scared off a few potential buyers as these bikes usually sell pretty fast around here when they are listed under $1,500 and are that nice.
Looking forward to getting at it with a few wrenches.

This one still has the spare canteen tank and it's pristine both inside and out, which is nice to have.
looking forward to see how it goes in the low ratio, should be fun out on the trails.

i got offered one local to me just two days ago....don't want or need it though.
everything seems to be available for them still and they're pretty easy to work on.
Intermittent spark seems to be the most common symptom of their age now - corroded connectors usually.
