    Parts washer cleaner solutions

Got a Harbor Freight 20 gallon parts washer tub with the flex hose that pumps the cleaner solution up. Anyway, looking for a real good cleaner solution for degreasing parts, carb bodes before dipping etc etc.

Dont want anything thats gonna discolor metal, but still effectively dissolve greasy and oily films.

Was thinking Simple Green but it tends to foam up heavily.

Odorless mineral spirits works well. Not sure how cost compares to stoddard solvent. I'd get which ever is cheaper.

Mineral spirits is an excellent degreaser that doesn't leave an oily residue. The grease and grime dissolves and then the sludge settles to the bottom so you can reuse the the solvent again and again.

I have the smaller cleaner that only uses about 3 gallons. I use kerosene in it.

However, at about $4 per gallon, your 25 gallon cleaner would cost a LOT to fill.

I use kerosene but I work out of a tub.
The kero will leave a oily residue.
On many things I like that.
                  On some I do not.
                  Cleans great though!
                  Smells like kerosene though!

Ozzyjuice. I was an auto shop teacher and the schools wanted to get away from flammable toxic solvents. I was very skeptical, it's actually amazing. It works better if it's slightly warm. Everything comes out looking brand new, it won't corrode metal, it doesn't smell bad.

Part of the complete system uses microbes and bioremediation to break down the dissolved grease and oil so it's not considered toxic waste.

According to their website there are 8 different mixes of OzzyJuice.
Do you remember which one you used?

I had used CASTROL parts cleaner in the past, much like Safety-Kleen. A friend suggested a 50/50 mix of Kerosene & Simple Green(at full strength) The shop manager started using it & we all found it superior to the Castro/Safety Kleen chemical. I use it now in my wee little 20 year old Harbor Fright parts washer. Really cleans fast & well, doesn't smell so bad.

I guess you could mix a small batch up & try it in a tub. Haven't tried to see how combustible it is but I believe flash point is above what is considered "Flammable". Might go out & try to light up a small puddle just to see.
