Another Honda followed me home the other day....

I have finally caught up with a bike that I've been hunting. This very nice '77 Honda CB750F2 came up on another forum last week, I've been looking for an "F" for some time now. Really was looking for an F1, but this one was so nice, I couldn't pass it up. It was located about 10 hours from me, so I thought I may have to pass, not being able to get out to pick it up. After talking with the seller and getting to know him, though, he graciously offered to meet me half-way for the bike exchange. I couldn't pass it up at that point.

Met up with him last Saturday, very nice man, shared some motorcycling and family stories during the exchange, very pleasant buying experience, BTW. The bike was as nice or better than he described it. He also threw in a butt-load of additional parts, most in great condition, including a full rack of cleaned and rebuilt carbs....

Some pics of the bike as it arrived: (Please excuse the funky "fish-eye" look of the pics, I must have hit a setting on accident)

Some pics loaded in the trailer:

Some pics at home with it's new stable-mates:

I did get a few miles in between raindrops, yesterday. Nice bike, runs well, drives well.... nice addition to my collection.

Yeah, more projects, less time to pick up. But, after seeing these photos..... maybe I need to clean up a bit.

        Very nice, Dog.
I know how tough it is to find a stock exhaust in good shape for that model.
It the one you have from the automatic or the 550?
No doubt you are aware but www.sohc4.net is an excellent site for these bikes.

          Thanks.

I'm on the Honda SOHC site and a member. The PO says this is the stock 4 into 1 exhaust for the bike, thinks it may be a '76 exhaust that was used during an early production run. it is a '76 750F exhaust, so that makes some sense. I haven't done any research on my own as of yet. It has a Honda Part # on it.

Got to do some good riding, tonight. The wife and i went out to a bike night at the Taco joint, put on by one of our members, viperg. Lots of bikes, tonight, a nice turnout.

A nice night for a ride and nice bikes to look at.

My '77 F2 was mint as well. I loved that bike and wish I could have it back for a few days to compare to my '82 750e. Back then, I was able to purchase some S&W air shocks for $200 and they were so nicely adjustable. Seems like that engine really roasted my shins on warm days like I have never had a bike do since!

I do remember that bigger valve engine would grunt right off the bottom and freely rev to the 10.5 with no complaints....although I rarely did that. I loved the kick starter. Never had a problem with the dual points...one kick and it was lit.

The true F2 pipe had a very beautiful low growl with the distinctive single cam sound. Loved the seat and the brakes. The ignition switch HATES moisture.

I broad-sided a buck at 52 mph one night. Made me very angry. If I had been on one of the moronic "lean-forward" bikes (of today), I would have been dead or a quadriplegic. Bouncing a deer off your chest is much preferred to compressing the vertebra.

That whole incident initiated my wearing of large amounts of gear when riding. I have hit two more deer since then...but, at slower speeds.

I dig that bike. Very cool. Also cool that Viperg set up a bike night with some quality machines showing up. I wish we had something like that around here.... Did someone else ride your Sabre there, or did an exact copy show up?

It is a very nice Honda 750 F2 Joe! As nice as you will find. So nice to see you and Lori out on the new ride this week. A member of our vintage group bought Joe's V65 and has been riding the wheels off of it. In fact, we did a 500 mile weekend together last week to Mid-Ohio for the Vintage Races.

Yeah, that was my Sabre... I never felt the love for the Sabre, so it went to make room for the 750F. The Sabre went to a very good home, and I am glad to see him riding it, like it should be.....

We enjoy the bike nights you have. We keep talking of doing more riding, these rides and events give us the perfect excuse.
