This is one I've toyed with the idea of checking out. It says it's a 2002 for $2500. I'd probably have to sell the Honda to make it work.

You'd sell a 900f for a Police 1000?
I do think one of those could make a fun tourer/commuter, though."Thought he, it is a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."

I've now had the opportunity to compare the 1100 and the 900F. The Suzuki's quicker, longer range, and smoother. Of course, I'd love to keep ALL motorcycles I buy, but don't have the space or money to maintain them. It's just a thought, but I've always been a Kawasaki guy at heart, and I think it would be a neat bike to have.Comment

Tell me about the two speedometers.

Honda handles better ... plus, it technically should be as long range, since it has a bigger tank and doesn't get worse mpg.I've now had the opportunity to compare the 1100 and the 900F. Belay that larger tank, but really, .5 gallons and a bigger motor shouldn't out distance the Honda."Thought he, it is a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."

I still like the GS better. Honda seems to only get about 25 mpg or thereabouts. Could be the severe wind we have here most of the time. Yes, the Honda DOES handle better, but no real curvy roads to take advantage of that where I live.
Sorry to hijack the thread.
Carry on.

25 mpg? Good gods-something is wrong with it. The CB900f should get low to mid-40's."Thought he, it is a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."

Spent some more time, between rain drops...
Tank and fender paint are great. A little wax goes a long way. Most chrome is coming back to life.
Tank has no fuel gauge?
Is valve adjust procedure same as GS but with different diameter shims?
Suggestions on exhaust pipe wax / cleaner / treatment?1980 GS1000G - The Beast - GOING... GOING... yup, it's gone. I'm bikeless !!! GAaaahh !!!

No major motor differences other than charging system stuff from what I have read. I once thought of buying one when a bunch of them appeared on CL for an auction. They had run-flat tires at one point (maybe all of them did), but aside from those details, most of it is aesthetic-seat, bars, lights, fairing, etc."Thought he, it is a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."
