Looks very eye catching & reasonable. I remember , around this area, there was something negative about the GPZ750. Most bought the plain old KZ750's. It may have been the difference in $$, or maybe because the head mechanic at the local shop, liked his KZ better, but for some reason they weren't well thought of, here locally.

The R1 model 750 is very similar to the L model bikes which carried on, later in 700cc form in the USA, for a few more years after the GPz went unitrack and all ricky racer like. Advances from the regular KZ bikes include rubber engine mounts in front, digital dash, Mikuni carbs, rear set pegs, and the familiar styling. Very nice riding bikes that were much lighter than a GS or CB of the same era.

I agree 100% . . . the 83 GPz750 & 1100 started Kawasaki's transition to Ninja's.

Gpz750r1 - fabulous bikes.

Just noticed this thread.
I did a mechanical restore and respray on my one (picture below) (It was wrecked and used as a donor bike left outside for 15 years.)
I agree they are the nicest looking of bikes and were the last of the big air cooled 4's by Kawasaki
or near as damn it.
I dragged this out of a hedge for ?300 a few years ago. Paid before i saw it properly in the flesh !

I should take the R1 when I do my Europe tours but I pick my trusty GS550 every time.
