I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

If you have the soft valves you will be adjusting them a lot as they sink into the head. Now guys, don't get me wrong, I actually really like the first generation Ninja 600. They were dominant when I first started following racing. If I ever find one that is more or less complete, I'm going to jump on it. Ill use the valve issue to try to bump the price down.

Does the valve problem apply to the 900?
I've thrown thousands of miles on mine with only routine adjustments.
Maybe it was sorted by '85.
I stepped off of the Blade and onto the GPz fully expecting disappointment but nothing of the sort.
The thing's a certified blast at all times.

Not that I saw at the time.
But it reared it's head again with the first gen ZZR1100. I had a customer one of those drop two valves at idle...
The valve tips were soft on early ones and the collets pulled through.
It was a bone stock engine supplied as a bare unit and installed in a speedway sidecar. It had done one meeting at slowish speed to run it in.
It was being warmed up for it's second ever run when this happened.
Luckily there was negligible damage except to the owner's wallet - 16 valves later....

There was already an upgrade available.

              Double ouch on the wallet!
Speedway and sidecar sounds no more dangerous than knitting in front of the fire.
i have to explain to "bikers" here what speedway racing is.
