    mystery port

Anybody have any idea what this? I fired the engine up for the first real time since ive gotten a proper fuel tank. At first it was idling just fine with a cap over this vacuum port that the previous owner had on it. but the engine would not rev over 2k rpm before eventually dying. then I took the cap off and the rpms would shoot up to 3k but if I tried to cap off the port again it would die right away. and if I take it off the choke it dies. If looked over all the material I could find on carb and vacuum lines but most of those are for the 4cyl and does not seem to have this particular port. any ideas?

Not acquainted with the 425, but that might be your vacuum port that should be connected to the petcock.

There is a hose that belongs there that runs back to the petcock.
