1981 gs450 carb sync question
I don't have a carb synchronizer tool yet. I was wondering if it's possible to sync the carbs by ear. (turn adjuster and set for max rpm and/or smoothest sounding idle). I have never tried it this way and was curious if I am asking for trouble. Thanks in advance for any ideas.Tags: None -

Many years ago I did mine by ear and it ran much better afterwards, however I can't really comment on whether it was better or worse mechanically as I had no idea what I was doing... -

Good point Castlekin, I probably should've said this time around I'm going to make one because I have your thread subscribed to and saved ready for that time...Comment

MY GS 450 was to noisy to try to balance the carbs by ear. I had much better luck putting my hands over both exhaust pipes. One's sense of feel of pressure differential and temperature is much more accurate than hearing.
