So what happened to my oil?
I rode my GS 450 last weekend, about 60 miles total. When I would brake and come to a stop the oil light started coming on. I got home and checked the oil and the dipstick was bone dry....Yikes! I looked the bike over, no sign of a leak, but the sump was dry. Filter is new, bike has about 300 miles since the last oil change. No smoke, no leaks, but no oil! Aliens? I filled it up tonight and will keep a much closer eye on it, but this is weird!Tags: None -

What oil are you using?
I know that oil can be slowly diluted by blow by gasses and or fuel leaking into the crankcase.\
When the engine gets hot on a long run the thinned "oil" burns off.
Drain the oil and refill with fresh and take it for an immediate long run. -
Sounds like you didn't get the level right when the oil was changed. How did you check the oil level?Ed

Reckon you're on the money Ed
I did the "correct" procedure after the first service the other day, and after running her for a minute after filling the oil to the correct level it didn't register on the dipstick (as expected)... topped her up and all good to go, hasn't lost a drop since...Comment

Suzuki manual calls for bike on flat surface, bike on center stand, engine cold, run engine for few minutes, shut down engine and wait 1 minute, check oil level using the dipstick but don't screw it in.Ed

I actually re-read that in the manual after the first service and followed it to a T Ed, and Olddaddy, I can definitely confirm that after it ran for a few minutes, the oil was not registering on the dipstick... I don't think you need to worry once it's topped up

I pulled the drain plug last night and no oil came out.....none. So, put the plug back in and filled the case with oil. Let it sit, fired it up, let it run and warm up. Checked the oil and it was about half-way up the dipstick. Topped it off and ran it some more. Reads full now. Will check frequently on the next few rides. I cannot figure out where at least 2 quarts of oil went....it is a mystery.Comment

If it was just some not all, I'd say check the airbox... but all of it? I can understand your concern, that'd be freaking me out!
Is it possible someone syphoned it out? Is it even possible to syphon it out?
Oh John, now that's a trick in itself... pulling the dad joke out of the hat... hahaha
