New sproket

Im wanting to give my 81 gs450 t a little more top end with a new sproket. Is that going to mess up the speedo. Also I got my tach to work but once it gets over 5000 the tach just wraps out over like 13000. Any idea?

Hi Kirk, the speedo runs off the front wheel so anything you do to the drive train won't affect it. In fact the only thing that will affect it is a different size rim and/or tyre on the front.

Not sure on the tacho except is your cable cleaned and lubed?

And does your tach cable "buzz" anywhere before that happens? I had this problem, didnt know to lube the cable but I lubed the new one I ended up having to put in because it stopped buzzing when the whole cable broke.
