Oil Filter question BassCliff VS FRAM guide

Doing my first oil change and read BassCliff's writeup about. He says the FRAM number for an oil filter is CH6000, but the FRAM book that I looked at says CH6018... it did not, however cover the 1980 GS 450, but all the other motors in all years from 1982 up listed the same filter number.
Who is right? Which do I use?

    Thanks!

    Ch6000 is a plain filter

ch6018 i couldn't find but PH6018 is a nomal car style can filter

Google image it and you'll see the difference.

the 450's have a plain filter.

Oh, ok I see. I assume this means a car style can filter will not work?

nope, although a mod like that would be nice.

When you take the front cover off and look at yours you'll see why it will only work with this type.

There is usually quite a bit more oil that comes out when you take the cover off so be prepared

FRAM filters are among the worst. I can't cite my sources immediately but if you do some research on oil filter effectiveness you'll surely find it.

                    Hi,

                    Wait...what?

The Fram PH6018 is a spin-on oil filter, which our bikes don't use. The "CH" and the "PH" get mixed up sometimes with certain sellers.

It's used in a few Suzukis, mostly later bikes (V-Strom, Bandit, cruisers) and quads.

                    Thank you for your indulgence,

                    BassCliff

I used an Emgo filter, and it looked decent enough. Definitely better than what was in there......

I wouldn't put a Fram on any engine.

I took the taster's test on the Fram car filter, and cut one open. I can't say I'm a fan. The cardboard media and end caps are just plain cheap. I run Purolator Pure One or Wix (when I can find them) on my Jeep, and a K&N on my 55. The little nut welded to the end is worth the extra few bucks by itself. Now I do run a Fram fuel filter with my external pump setup on my 55, and it's a quality piece.
My understanding is there are 2 different Fram oil filters, and the ones made in Mexico are the cheapies with the cardboard, but the ones made in the US are of better quality. I've heard this said, but never seen a comparison. Not sure if it's the same for MC filters, though.

I have recently started using the K&N oil filters on my bike.
