    New to riveted master links

To my surprise, the new X-ring chain I bought from BikeBandit came with a riveted master link.

In 40 years of riding, I've only ever used clip type (with no failures).

Do I need to buy yet another tool? Or can I do this with a backing block and a flaring punch?

... Just went back to BikeBandit, and they have a clip type masterlink that'l cost $9.00 or so. Oh well, a few more days of not riding in this wonderful weather...

It can be done in about one minute with the baking block and flaring punch.

Just remember, if a hammer won't sort it out, you have an electrical problem.
