Will early GS500 sprockets fit a GS300?

I ask because I want to gear up - it's all but useless going 15 feet in 1st gear. The 500 has a 16-tooth front. I also have a bead on a 39(and a 37)-tooth rear that'll fit the 300.

Find the GS300, and then start browsing around for sprockets from other bikes to see what fits.

I didn't look.... but does the 300 have a 520 chain?

It does. That's what got me thinking this, apparently the 500 uses the same chain too.
