Shopping for a Shindengen R&R for my gs450

I would like to upgrade to a Shindengen R&R for my gs450. In researching them, I see a couple different model numbers and wondered which one is correct for my bike? I see a SH775BA and a SH775AA. They seem to look identical, but are they? Anyone know??

The AA was commonly used on Seadoo watercraft. I'm not sure what if any real differences exist between the AA and BA but I've tested a number of both and they all seem to function the same. With a properly charged battery (and strong stator) they will charge at 14.5 VDC. If your battery is weak the output will be about 14.0 VDC. I've bought and resold a bunch of these and never found a bad one yet, other than damaged connectors. Some guys apparently use a hammer to remove them from the bike they are parting. Just be careful when buying because there are a lot of fakes on the market. Be sure the printing is visible on the top fin.

So you have a good used R&R to sell? If so, how much $?

I bought a used SH775 R&R but after receiving it I realized the mounting holes don't match up to my 450. Looks like I will have to drill 1 or 2 new holes along with retaining nuts.

Also, will the spade connectors on the bike just press in .... in the same order Left to Right?

Check this link for an install diagram...https://www.thegsresources.com/_foru...nstall-Diagram

Most forum members purchase the Triumph jumper harness (PN T2500676) and adapt that to fit the bike wiring. There are other aftermarket connectors as well.

The cheapest option is to use female spade terminals on some loose wire and attach those to the R/R directly. To do the job right you should then fill the cavity in the R/R and pot the wires with low acid electrical safe RTV.

What thickness wire from the R/R? The yellow ones I find can only do lile 15 amps. It is 1.5mm2. Is that enough?

14 gauge for the + and - wires and 16 gauge for the stator wire extensions should be fine. You can always go fatter if you want of course but packaging becomes an issue.
