    Countershaft seal change

Never changed one without already having cases split. So im questionng if seal can be changed wthout splitting the case. Been a while but i seem to recall a ridge running aound the centerline which requires cases split. Am i remembering correctly? Bike is 83 1100E

Been too long, Didn't remember for sure. Looked at a parts diagram, it looks like there is a C ring that holds the seal in, thinking probably got to split the cases.
