Brake Rubber Blues
I am working on a 1979 GS1000L front brakes and cannot find the rubber boots for the brake pad arm. Item #6 in the attached drawing. 59112-34020 Does anyone know where I can get these? Also, would the 1980 redesigned brakes fit on my bike? Without the boots I may have to look at other options.Last edited by dubwicht; 12-09-2024, 06:21 PM.Tags: None

The later calipers work better and are a direct swap. You may need the discs also, but not sure.Ed

Not sure about the L model, but on my 79 and 80 GS850s I mixed and matched the front brakes so the wheels can swap around easily. Also, the 79 now had 80 brakes, which were a huge improvment.
On the single disc L model, I don't know.
Is yours single or twin? If it's a twin, I suspect all you need is the calipers and the mounting brackets will fit the later calipers.
If it's a single, you'll have to dig deeper.Dave
