    82-83 GS1100E 24-Bolt Breather Mesh

Might seem like a silly question ...... but

Does anybody know for sure what side of the valve cover central tunnel the wire mesh goes (Left or Right side)?

The mesh is Part #13 in the attached.

This applies only to the 82-83 GS1100 24 Bolt covers.

(I'm having a blow by issue I think)

Jim, it shows it right there in the diagram as going on the RIGHT side of the bike. This should be where the opening into the motor is. Ray.

Thanks Ray, was not sure what the picture was showing. However when I moved it from the correct (right side) to the left side there was a noticable drop in the pulsating from the breather, but a big increase in oil running on my left foot

Will switch it back and change the o-ring to something closer to OEM.

No, it doesn't...I just went out to the garage and moved mine to the "right" side...
And you can do it with the gas tank in place....

Funny how much information is in the manual. Here is a pic of the manual in the GS1100SD (Big Kat) section. Alot of times this is same as the GS1100ED/ESD. Since GS1100EZ/ED/ESD are all same 24 bolt valve cover probably also the EZ.

                Mesh is on both sides.
