    Clutch questions identifying

So I have two clutch hubs to use in my gs1100 engine build. Both of these hubs came out of engines that I sourced. The one with the backing plate on it came from a good running engine.
Just wanted to verify this is what people are talking about when they say getting the clutch hub modified / steel backing plate as I have never actually seen one just heard about it.

The one on the left again has the plate on the back

I was planning on using this hub good idea??????

The one on the left is too dark in your picture to see anything. You need to put up a new picyure of the modified hub with some light on it so we can see it to give you an answer. Ray.

I have NEVER seen a backing plate like that! I have no idea if the springs were even changed & would NOT trust it! That's just me & it could be ok to use. I'm not one to use something like that because you won't be able to tell if the springs are tight or loose. The back of that hub could be ready to explode but you could never tell by the way it's all covered up! Just MY take on it. Ray.

Please correct me if I am wrong but dosent the backing plate keep the springs in place??
I have never seen one done properly so I am not sure what they are supposed to look like.
In theory it seems like it would work form my understanding of what the clutch mod does. Then again I dont have much....any experience with this.

Anyone else ever see a clutch hub like this?????????maybe a home made job???????

What's dampening the hub and gear in the F'd up one?
Maybe something behind door number one?

Terry, it looks to me like someone installed the long bolt in the wrong hole & then machined the hub down! Ray.

So I am getting the feeling this mystery clutch may not be a good choice to put in my soon to be turboed engine. Bummer thought I might have caught a break for once.
