uh oh... that doesn't sound to good

I have put the gs1000/1100 project back together after anumber of problems... and she runs fine. still cosmetic work to be done... will post pics.

Only problem is... when I start it for the first time it sound like that the starter is spinning but hitting something... bit of a loud clank

yet doesnt do it when warm... then next day will do it again... first time.

I tried pulling the clutch in when starting and it didnt do it.

any suggestions... i know the battery aint charging well.... could it be just battery bit run down? or could it be starter clutch

Sounds like the starter clutch unless the battery is very weak.

I believe you have the same problem I experienced after installing a Wiseco 1085 kit especially since you state it happens in the morning when it's "cold" and does not happen when it's warm. So I would suggest the following

        1) Verify you Charging System is operating per the Stator papers, then

        2) Read the thread below and focus on Option #2 which lets you spin the motor first w/o turning on the Run switch till it's spinning fast enough
