Removing Engine Sprocket w/out Chain & Rear Brake

Here is the basic story --- engine sprocket came loose because the nut came loose because the lock washer failed. I was able to remount the sprocket but the lock washer and the nut are toast.

I have a spare engine to strip parts but cannot get the nut off because the sprocket is spinning freely.

I am looking for suggestions on how to hold the hold the sprocket in place so that I can wrench the nut loose. (note: I do not need to save this spare sprocket).

Barring this ... does anyone have a spare nut and washer (for a GS 700) for sale or trade?

Do you have an old chain?
TCK and I just wound an old chain around the sprocket till it wouldn't spin anymore...

Go to Harbor Freight and get a cheap electric impact unless of course you have air.
      or
Take off the clutch cover and jam the inner clutch basket. (in gear of course)

Take an extension bar and put it at the 5 o'clock position on the sprocket, and put the other end against the front of the swingarm or frame section.......Billy

wrap it with your leather belt. like a chain wrench
use an old insulated shirt wrap it tight same as above
2 pices of wood and a C clamp
take the engine apart and put the transmisson in a vise
bring a vise to the engine and clamp the sucker

are you using an air impact? a hammer type of impact driver?

or just a breaker bar? if you do not have power tools get a propane torch and heat it up it will release before the seal melts.
