    Starter Issues!!

hi, i am going nuts trying to fix problem i am having. quick recap of issue: started bike to warm up, had to shut off to help wife, went back out to start it and hit the start button and it stated to crank over then starter just started spinning without engaging. so, i replace starter and tried again, hit start button, started to crank then starter just started spinning without engaging. so i then replaced the starter solenoid to see if that was problem. hit start button same thing happened. Checked connections and all looked good. Hope you all can help me figure this one out. Thank you for your time!!

Yep, sounds like the starter clutch has gone on vacation, not sure what kind of job it is, I have never had to do one, but no doubt those more in the know than I will be alongto inform you shortly.

The first thing we try and find out before using the crystal ball is what model bike... It helps if you put it in your signature... What happens on some models is the 3 bolts that hold the clutch to the rotor snap... I just did mine 3 weeks ago... Its a very simple repair once you get the rotor off the left side... tell us about your bike and the help will come...

If you look 5 threads down from the one you started, there is another member working on his flywheel or rotor, whatever you want to call the thingamabob frusinglasin....
