    Engine swap

The engine in my '79 GS850 is getting tired. Got a chance to buy a complete engine, carbs and all, from an '81 GS850. Should be a straight forward bolt in swap, right?

    Get the '81 airbox too.

The engine "should" be a bolt in swap.

you'll also need the air box for the '81, the throttle assembly with cable, choke cable, misc hoses and ??? (clutch cable?)

one issue you might run into is, changing from the electronic ignition on the '81 back to points.

        Thanks for the replies.

OK I'll be sure I get the airbox and cables. The guy I'm buying from is parting out a wreck, so he probably has all that.

I've got the Dyna S ignition on the '79, so I'm not sure how to go with that. I'll work out something. Probably see to it that I get all the ignition parts from the '81.

The dyna is a direct swap, 81 engine & carbs will bolt up fine. Yes the choke cable end is different, throttle should work
          just one less cable..
