    82 1100e head gasket

O.K. Here is a dumb question! Its been so long since I`ve done this that I cant remember! Can you remove the head off a 82 1100e with the motor in the frame, so that the head gasket can replaced??? I`ve got 30,000 plus miles on mine and she`s starting to leak pretty bad!

Yes. It's a good idea to change the base gasket at the same time...and valve stem seals...and many people hone and throw in new rings too.

Before you tear it apart to replace gaskets that might NOT be leaking, try changing the orings on the front 2, center, head nuts first. I have found this to be the problem MANY times. Ray.

+1 on RapidRay's advice. I followed his advice after I thought I had a base gasket leak on my 83 1100. No more leaks and it's quick and simple, which is even better!
