    Removing Airbox

Alright ive read through the manuals to remove the airbox but it doesnt really say much, im trying to get the small rear airbox out, everything is unscrewed and its 95% removed from the main airbox but it wont come out. Is there a trick to this?

Yes, there is a very important "trick".

YOU HAVE TO TELL US WHAT BIKE YOU ARE WORKING ON.

What bike? Might want to post it in your signature to prevent future requests for the piece of info.

What bike are you talking about?

Remind us, or put it in your signature line. What bike is this? Different models there are many and varied ways of airbox removal.

I think the airbox comes off after everything else behind it is removed, from some previous threads. Don't quote me, I may be wrong....
To put something in your signature line, go to User CP, then signature, add the sig items, click "save" and it'll be there.

You'd think the carbs would come out easier then tearing apart the whole bike. Can they come off without removing the airbox maybe, doesnt seem like it unless i unbolt the boots from the engine block and pull the whole assembly out that way?

                  Hi,

For some of these GS bikes the procedure is as follows.

Loosen the airbox and slide it back as far as possible.
If necessary, loosen the rear fender to gain an extra one half to one inch of clearance.
                  Remove the carbs.
                  Then remove the airbox.

Let' see if Mr. duaneage chimes in. I know he's had his 650 all apart.

                  Thank you for your indulgence,

                  BassCliff

An alternate way to accomplish the same thing:
At the other end of the blue line that has "User CP", is an item called "Quick Links". You can select "Edit Signature" directly from there.

You should be thankful that you don't have a 450. If I remember correctly, if you want to remove the airbox (and leave it in a condition where you can re-install it), you have to first remove the engine.
