got carbs soaking just for giggles, found one of the rubber plugs over pilot to be kind of shotty when i tore it down so i need to find one of those

Get some new fuel and vac hoses. Did you switch to PRI when the trouble started ? Your vac hose could be collapsing.

That's strange as I have been running 3 bikes with pods and the vent hoses running down and out where the battery vent goes for a bout 30 years with no problems whatsoever.
Directly in front of the swing-arm and in the flow of passing air. I must just be lucky.
