1982 GS1100Gk final drive gear
Tried to drill and tap the shaft but got it off center. Have an ad out for a used one, hope to find one somewhere. Gear with a stud that bolts from the transmission to the u-joint of the drive shaft. Also, my parts manual shows both gears with the same part number but they look different in the exploded view? 24911-49001?Last edited by Guest; 05-14-2011, 02:06 PM.Tags: None

They were made as a set, so one part number. Probably ground one after the other and kept together till death parts them. During assembly they were shimmed for best fit in the housing. Another gear would work but it probably would be best to get a matched pair. How far off center was your drilling? It's a must to do this stuff in carefully aligned drill press.Originally posted by MidnightRider View PostTried to drill and tap the shaft but got it off center.
