I'm confused, does he not have a clutch lever? Nowhere have I read that it was going WOT. It doesn't Take much throttle to rev to 6k. In fact very very little. A 1/4 turn too much on my idle screw is 4000rpm. If there wasn't anything obviously wrong and I couldnt repeat the issue I'd do the same.

Although that's probably my age speaking. Little lower than the average around here.
