    Front sprocket nut loose???

    Gs550
Front sprocket but is loose but has a retainer.
Checked my other engine and it's the same.
Is it supposed to be loose?!?
The retainer looks like its never been messed with.

They work themselves loose just from the torque working against the nut.

NO, it is not supposed to be loose.

The washer is splined on the inside and slides onto the transmission output shaft and after the large nut is torqued up tight the washer is then bent over one of the flats of the nut to lock it in place.

yes they do come loose, use red locite and a new crush washer. I had my front sprocket come completely off once. Same thing for the clutch hub nut, tighten that thing up also.
