Do oil pumps wear out? Oil lite flickers when hot at idle. Lite never comes on above idle. Gs 1100 has about 40k on it.

They do wear out, however you could be having other problems. what is your idles speed? And have you actually put a gauge on it to see what pressure you actually have? -
Idles @ 1000. Pressure is 2 lb at most at idle. Goes up considerably off idle.Comment

do you know what pressure it is supposed to be at idle. I'm not sure off the top of my head. it could just be a loose or bad wire or a bad sending unit.Comment

looks like its supposed to have between 1.42 and 7.11 at 3000rpm. doesn't give an idle spec. though.Comment
