    GS1100G starter clutch

Does any one know if I can use a starter clutch from a different bike on the 82~up GS1100G's, or are we relegated to using only the one from a shaft drive 1100 ?

I am guessing but I would imagine that any GS1100 starter clutch would work. Probably others too. Check the part numbers on a parts fiche at Bike Bandit to be sure. Shouldn't be hard to check out. Good luck!

I checked the fiche and it only lists those shaft drive models as fitting.

The reason for my asking is, someone used a GS1000G clutch on an early 1000 chain drive model and I was hoping something else off the radar would work in place of it.

      Thanks JimmyR!

Keep us posted with your findings. I may be looking for one for my EZ....

Dave, The starter clutch is removed my 78 1000. I can take measurements if you'd like.

80-82 1100 16v. will only fit each other as far as the rotor's.

1000-1100 shafty's are odd and have diff bolt pattern and starter clutch diameter.
            odd stuff.
1000 chain drive 8v. should fit each other unless the 80 chain drive is different.
            1000/1100 kat rotor's will interchange..again..odd stuff.

Thanks BB. I'm hoping the 1000G and 1100G clutches will interchange even though the part numbers are different. What I'm trying to do is figure this out ahead of time, so that when Stan's GS1100GKD arrives on Tuesday and I find it has a bad starter clutch, I can improve my chances on finding one for it.
