    Singing a song...

with the help of this forum, the shim club, and basscliffs site I managed to replace my shims month or so ago. Since then at certain rpm's I would hear what sounded like an air leak. Just recently its that plus upon releasing the throttle "singing" is how I can describe it. Cam chain? I'm guessing 300+ miles since rebuild. Is this normal?

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hi,

The tach and speedo cables can make some weird noises (squeaking, howling) in the gauges when they are binding or need lubrication. The noise could just be coincidental to your recent maintenance.

    Thank you for your indulgence,

    BassCliff

As Cliff alluded to, remove your gauges, turn them upside down and spray lubricant where the cable drives attach.
Also make certain that your cables are lubed as well.
If it persists, one of the gauges will stop working soon.

Thanks guys, wish it were that simple. Speedo is gone, went wireless bike speedo. And well the tach, that's gone too, along with the cable, hole is plugged. This one is a head scratcher...
