    Back side of a 850 and its leaking. What is it?

        I found the smoking gun.

        There was NO gasket between it and the engine.

          Make sure you read the manual before pulling it off. It's a dead easy job but if you don't follow the procedure you could be in trouble.

            ..And What Mr. Hampshire means is if you were to muck this up it could cause your pstons to slam into your vavles, trashing your motor. Yes, its fun to repair

                Yes, it's very simple to repair, but even easier to mess things up if you don't do it right.

                I have not been following any of your posts to remember what all you have done to the bike, but this would be a good time to do a bunch of other stuff, too.

                You definitely have to remove the carbs to get the tensioner off. Have you cleaned them and replaced their o-rings?

                Although it's not necessary, it would be a good time to do a valve adjustment, since you are going to be working at the top of the engine, anyway.

                    Rebuilding the cct is pretty easy. Just order the OEM seals and follow the guide on Bwringer's(?) site. There is a link on BassCliff's page.
